I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been accepted into this year’s Newark Arts Festival, happening from October 9 - 13, 2024! This year’s theme, Radical Reimagining, feels particularly close to my heart, as it challenges us to reimagine a world where creativity fuels our systems, lifestyles, and beliefs, building towards a more just and equitable society.

Ellis Angel’s weaving, What Is America . . . Chants Democratic, has been accepted into the Baker University National 2024 Exhibition. This mixed media piece, created from Walt Whitman poems, will be on display from February 13 to April 5, 2024, at the Holt-Russell Gallery.

Ellis Angel’s weaving, What Is America . . . The New Colossus, has been accepted into the 25th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences. This mixed media piece, created from Emma Lazarus’ iconic poem, will be on display from May 20 to July 4, 2023.

Ellis Angel’s mixed media weaving, Cupid’s Arrow (Love Struck), has been selected for the Nostalgia Exhibition at District Arts in Frederick, MD. This 12 x 12 inch piece reimagines classic representations of love and beauty through woven black-and-white images from the Taschen 1000 Nudes collection.

Ellis Angel’s mixed media weaving, What is America...Calamus, from the America Is . . . series, will be featured in the Art and Poetic Text exhibition at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod from April 11–29, 2023. This piece reimagines Walt Whitman’s Calamus poems in a woven reflection on love and American identity.
